The paintings of Calgary based Canadian artist Jonathan Faria are a natural extension of his life long interest for all types of art and design. From an early passion for woodworking  and furniture making, to explorations with metal sculpture, and glass blowing, Jonathan's paintings are an extension of a need to create and express, and a love for natural and rural landscapes.

“As a primarily self taught artist, I love to explore saturated colours, textures, the interplay of light and shadow, and interesting compositions that will ultimately result in paintings that reflect a moment of pleasure, a glimpse of beauty, or capture an intrinsic mood. I have always been fascinated and moved by the colourful patterns and subtle shades of light on a landscape. I believe the job of an artist is to capture the essence of a moment, distill out what is unnecessary and amplify what remains, while adding my own personal twist so the viewer is moved by the unique impression of the landscape or subject matter.”
